    Abstract

In the evaluation of a diagnostic aid it is of considerable interest to study its performance in hospitals other than the one in which it was developed and in this way it is no different from a new laboratory technique. None of the probabilistic algorithms for the differential diagnosis of jaundice developed until now, has gained widespread use, one reason being problems in transfering it to other geographical areas.
