Abstract
Perceived stress varies very much from work site to work site. For instance, there are work sites where 7% among the employees often perceive them selves as being stressed whereas the proportion is 18% in other work sites. Analyses showed that this variation is not random nor could it be explained by socio-demographic nor by work related determinants.
Analysis showed that the variation in perceived stress between work sites is so significant that it cannot be explained as a normal statistical variation between work sites alone, or for instance by variations in the composition of gender, age and socio-economic groups within the work sites.
The most likely explanation seems to be that perceived stress among the employees is influenced by local site related stress loads. Local stress determinant studies should further be taken into consideration.
