    Abstract

The number of fluorescing particles (F‐bodies) in lymphocytes in 28 female and 45 male patients with CLL was compared to 63 (36 female, 27 male) controls, with and 25 (13 female, 12 male) without other haematological diseases. We found statistically highly significant increased F‐body counts in the CLL groups. The present investigation indicates that the F‐body feature described is specific for CLL‐patients and may be a characteristic of the malignant clone of lymphocytes.
