Abstrakt

A case of Mycoplasma hominis incisional infection and abscess formation after cesarean section in a 21-year-old woman is presented. The procedure was performed because of cephalopelvic disproportion at 41 weeks of gestation. Although rare, M hominis infection has to be borne in mind when direct microscopy of purulent abscess exudate reveals leukocytes without Gram-stainable bacteria, especially when no prior antibiotic treatment has been initiated and when treatment with β-lactams has been ineffective.
