Research Program in The Philadelphia-Negative Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs).

The present research program is included in the “The MPN-Elite Consortium “ as described below in a separate section. It has been elaborated to give a comprehensive overview on present and planned experimentel and clinical research within the MPNs ( essential thrombocythemia, polycythemia vera and myelofibrosis ) at the Department of Hematology, Zealand University Hospital, Roskilde, Denmark.

The main areas of research within MPNs are :

I. Clinical studies of the efficacy of conventional and novel treatment modalities ( herein interferon-alpha2, JAK1-2 inhibitors, statins, and mucolysin.

II. Comorbidity studies – both clinical and epidemiological registry studies – in the pre-MPN-diagnosis phase and during the course of the diseases when being treated with various treatment modalities.

III. Quality of Life Studies – at the time of diagnosis and  during the course of the diseases when being treated with various treatment modalities.

IV. Molecular mutation studies, including next generation sequencing (NGS) with particular focus upon their value in diagnostics, prediction and monitoring of the efficacy of conventional and novel treatment modalities.

V. Molecular gene expressions studies with particular focus upon diagnostics, prediction and monitoring of the efficacy of conventional and novel treatment modalities.

VI. Immune cell studies with particular focus upon diagnostics, prediction and monitoring of the efficacy of conventional and novel treatment modalities.

VII: Immune cell studies as part of vaccination trials and trials on immune check-inhibitors and in combination.

VIII: Proteome studies particular with particular focus upon diagnostics, prediction and monitoring of the efficacy of conventional and novel treatment modalities.
